Terms of Service

Effective: November 7, 2026

These Terms set out the rights, obligations and responsibilities between Jail of Art (예술감옥, the "Service") and its users. The Service is currently free of charge.

Article 1 (About the Service)

The Service is an art recommendation platform that connects audiences' tastes with artists' work. It provides artist discovery and recommendations, saving artworks, a personal exhibition space (My Cell), 3D galleries, artist inquiry relay, and an exhibition space map.

Article 2 (Artist registration and approval)

• Artists may apply by uploading directly or by connecting an Instagram account. At least 3 artwork images are required.
• Submitted artist information goes public only after review and approval by an administrator. The Service may reject a registration or stop displaying it if it does not meet our operating standards.
• Artists must register only works they created or have the right to display, and the information they provide must be accurate.

Article 3 (Copyright and permission to display artwork images)

• Copyright in the artwork images an artist uploads or selects remains with the artist. The Service does not take ownership of it.
• The artist permits the Service to display those images solely for portfolio presentation and 3D gallery exhibition within the platform.
• The Service does not use artwork images for any other purpose, such as commercial sales, provision to third parties, or separate advertising.
• To the extent needed to operate the Service, images may be resized for display, analyzed by AI (for artwork search and recommendation), and shown in 3D galleries. See the Privacy Policy for details.
• Works that a user saves to My Cell or hangs in a 3D gallery are displayed only for that user's personal exhibition, and users may not copy or distribute the images outside the Service.
• Works of artists whose direct registration (consent to display) or separate permission has not been confirmed, and works of artists whose copyright is still in force, may be shown at reduced resolution (about 400px on the longest side) with a watermark. Works of artists whose post-mortem protection term has expired (the term varies by country; the Service conservatively applies at least life plus 70 years), or works for which the artist or heirs have given permission, may be shown at near-original resolution.
• To prevent unauthorized copying, the Service may restrict right-click, dragging, saving and printing of artwork images and block direct linking (hotlinking) from other sites. Users must not circumvent these measures. Originals can be viewed through the artist's page and outbound links to the artist's official channels.

Article 4 (Withdrawing permission and requesting removal)

• An artist may at any time email jailofart@gmail.com to withdraw the display permission or to request removal of artwork images or artist information.
• After confirming the request, the Service will unpublish or delete the images without delay. Once permission is withdrawn, the images are no longer displayed on the Service; the withdrawal does not affect display that took place before it.
• A rights holder who believes that content infringes their copyright or other rights may request removal at the same email address, and the Service will take the necessary action after review.

Article 5 (User responsibilities)

Users must not:

• register another person's work or images without the right to do so;
• impersonate others or register false information;
• use comments or inquiries for abuse, defamation, advertising, spam or other disruption of the Service;
• bypass security measures or use the Service in abnormal ways, such as automated mass requests.

If such conduct is found, the Service may delete the content or restrict use.

Article 6 (Artist inquiry relay)

The Service receives inquiries that audiences send to artists and passes them on. The Service only relays inquiries; any transaction or agreement about artwork is made directly between the inquirer and the artist, who are responsible for its outcome.

Article 7 (Changes to or suspension of the Service)

The Service may change or suspend all or part of the Service for operational or technical reasons, and will announce significant changes on this page or elsewhere.

Article 8 (Disclaimer)

• AI analysis and recommendations are for reference only and are not an assessment of the value of an artwork or an artist's ability.
• The Service is not liable for damages caused by events beyond its control, such as natural disasters or outages of external services (login, hosting, AI, etc.).
• Disputes between users, or between users and artists, are in principle resolved by the parties involved.
